Take Two: Lee Quinones takes Lexus RX450H to the streets

If there is one thing that you may notice when steppin’ up to the front mug of the new 2010 Lexus RX450h, it is the super sloped wind cutting nose resembling the leading edge of a Hammerhead shark. You can peek the bottom valance panel as well as the hood line all while standing directly in front. For a prototype, it sure has fine, or may I say defined lines? Every panel seems to fit just right. The bottom line: it rides pretty swell and sturdy through New York City’s mine fields.

The interior, particularly the inner door panels with their swooping armrest and recessed handles complement the interior color of the light grey vs dark black on this puppy. The dash along with the rest of the creature feature seats are inviting to say the least. The controls are right there, audio is super clear and potent, whereas road noise is nothing short of non-existent. One little fine touch to a common blind spot on today’s gargantuan A-pillars is the tiny triangular window. This window helps you peek beyond the pillars on either side of the vehicle when turning, especially when giving the right of way to pedestrians, and you will give a nod of cool to its designers. Though not a power hungry jockey, its Hybrid heart predictively gives pretty exceptional gas mileage in this struggling climate as we know it. Thumbs up and breakout the check book to claim this pup and be the first.
