A slice of Philly: Snipi

How about Game 5 in Philadelphia? I have a (Detroit) Tiger heart through and through, but I love a good game, and this series has me captivated. I’m softening up to the Yankees — something about Joe Girardi I like, and the cleanup man Mo Rivera. Even A-Rod has me smiling affectionately. Of course, I love that Michigan is on the field in a big way, every time Derek Jeter dashes across the infield. But Philly has admirable sluggers and the fiery pitching of Cliff Lee was thrilling for 7 innings.New-York-Yankees-v-Philad-001
Bottom line — there’s nothing like the World Series for hanging on every pitch. Gary Sheffield, in his Yankee days, once told me that baseball is a game defined by learning how to lose and to persevere. I love that. Learning how to savor the sweet moments and move past the discomfort.

With Philadelphia on my mind, the details of a Philly-start up Snipi came across the server. Founder Andre Golsorkhi emailed with a breakdown of the site:Snipi was founded in late 2007 as an Interest Network. We are focused on allowing people to share their interests – and find content they like – rather than participate in a “network” based strictly on social connections. Snipi is not about who you know – its about what you know. The notion of “cool hunting,” for instance, is the very basis of what Snipi offers its users. The ability to navigate anywhere on the web – and drag and drop something they like into Snipi to create a collection of their finds.
Snipi has a section dedicated to cars. Snipi broaches design. Snipi has home design.

Snipi launches a sweepstakes this week with B & H with all kinds of prizes. Details on the site.

Back to baseball, back to New York. Game 6 Wednesday!
