New Music: Bombay Bicycle Club
The Bombay Bicycle Club is named after an Indian restaurant on King’s Road in London. The indie rock band will release their debut album I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose (Arena Rock Recording Company) in July.
They’ll spend the summer touring churches and art centers in the UK.
This video for Dust on the Ground was inspired by Grosse Pointe, Michigan set Virgin Suicides. “The inspiration for it was The Virgin Suicides. I think the story of the video is: We were walking along in the woods one day and we come across a girls’ covent or something. Then we realize there’s something sinister going on and we run away at the end,” said lead guitarist Jamie MacColl on the Skiddle.
The band, made up of Jack Steadman (vocals, guitars), MacColl (guitars), Suren De Saram (drums), and Ed Nash (bass) hail from North London.
They put out their first EP The Boy I Used To Be in 2007. Producer Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, UNKLE, Kasabian, and Adele) worked with the band on the album.
Songs are subtle and big on melodies that are all the rage in the UK. It’s proof in the bread pudding, that England is never at a loss for boys in bands.
