2011 Ram 2500: A safety blanket of sorts

A few weeks ago, I found myself in Detroit unexpectedly, and the 2011 Ram 2500 came to the rescue. I have a soft spot for what used to known as the Dodge Ram. My father, who worked for Chrysler in the 70s, 80s and 90s,  practically brought me up in the Ram brand, and took me to farm conventions where he gave away beefy Rams to drooling farmers, the reason these big rigs are still necessary. From my vantage point, I find the Ram comforting, and protective.

But times have changed and the truck climate is a whole different game. I think Ram still measures up. Let’s start with look — the styling says “Boss.” The curves of the Ram sculpture have endeared me to the shape that’s been intact for several generations, and the brand’s integrity hold ups in the big ole’ 2500.

The interior is spacious, but not overly fancy. Perfect for piling a work crew or a couple family members in the back. That’s where the Ram came in –when we needed utility and stoic partnership, it got us there, feeling safe and well styled. And power, well there’s plenty of that in the 6.7 liter Diesel Cummins engine that added panache with its improved fuel economy.
