New Exhibition: Syvlia Ji at Corey Helford
Sylvia Ji shows “Shapeshifter” at the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City.
Ji’s paintings are figurative in nature —women depicted with bold tribal elements of Native American folklore, and a strong color palette. Carolyn Niethammer’s book “Daughters of the Earth: The Lives and Legends of American Indian Women” served as a major influence. Twelve paintings make up the collection of new works. The show will be on view until December 31, 2010.
The San Francisco native resides in Los Angeles. Ji has shown her at Bristol’s City Museum & Art Gallery and the Joshua Liner Gallery.
