littlewhitehead at the London Art Fair

Craig Little and Blake Whitehead are the artists littlewhitehead, who live and work in Glasgow, Scotland. They will be showing several provocative pieces at the London Art Fair. In “Spam,” a life size child figure made from wax wears a Darth Vader helmet. A photo titled ‘Vader Kid’ was the inspiration for the work. The work is composed of plaster, foam, wood, clothes, wax, helmet, chairs and tables
.

Commissioned for the London Art Fair, in the Struggle, littlewhitehead burned 100 copies of Hitler’s  Mein Kampf to dust, mixed the ash with resin and cast it in a mould extracted from an antique copy of the Bible.

In another piece, burned porno was recast into five doll house sized pianos  from a piano mold carved by Whitehead’s grandfather.  The pianos were sanded down with the assistance of a group of twelve year olds.

BOO! Littlewhitehead are plagiarists and have blatantly stolen the idea for their spam “project” from a professional fine art photographer from NYC named Alex Brown. The photo was actually entitled “Sad Vader” and can be viewed here: http://www.20×200.com/art/2010/04/untitled-sad-vader.html and here: http://www.alexbrownphotography.com as well as all over the internet. The photo above certainly seems like a giant ripoff. Lame.
