Artist Prints For LACMA By Paddle 8
A print series including work by William Eggleston, Barbara Kruger, David Salle and Glenn Ligon is available at Paddle8, with proceeds benefitting the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
The Eggleston print is pigmented ink print on Museo Silver Rag on paper sized 20 x 15 1/8 inches and is made in an edition of 30, priced at $3000.00.Bruce Wagner writes of Eggleston’s work:
“We can even speak of the fabled, magical mundaneness of Mr. Eggleston’s cars–some bright, some husks–and merciless, merciless facades, his unapologetic faces and deadpan dogs, his bright-dark trees and monolithic, colored, geomantic vision (colors at once faded and vivid), urban and country. but what do these things tell us, collectively? These sharecropped fields, these flat, sacred landscapes? Are they sorrowful images? Are we already dead, looking at them? Is a radiator of itself a sad thing, sadder still when topped by artificial flowers? No: neither sad nor ironic but rather the thing Mr. Eggleston’s itinerant eye fell upon and snagged–there’s mystery in what is selected but that isn’t our concern–and he feels such tenderness toward those things, those transcendent characters, radiators and false flowers, colloquial signs and ghost cafes, gasoline and soda logos and startled foliage (there’s a tree in this calendar that a saint decamped from moments before it was photographed) beneath blue skies.”
David Salle’s “Vista” is a four color lithograph on Rives BFK paper, priced at $1200, available in an edition of 25 prints.
Barbara Kruger’s 2010″ (Untitled) Another Year “work is a Lenticular pigment print giving the work a three-dimensional perspective, measuring 21 x 16 inches and printed by The Lapis Press and priced at $10,000.
Glenn Ligon’s work “2000 -2099” coincides with the closing of his retrospective at the museum. The work is priced at $4000 in an edition of 30. (Read my interview with him on Lifeandtimes.com)
