Gotryke launched in fall 2007 over a conversation at a Brooklyn watering hole between two friends about lifestyle, creativity and good ideas. Founders Chuck Gibson and Tamara Warren knew they were taking a chance by creating a digital space that wasn’t easily defined as the average car, design or lifestyle blog, but they knew they were onto something when the ideas began to flow as they mapped out the road ahead.
Tamara is a seasoned music and car writer, and Chuck is an established designer, art director and music producer. To develop their blog, they simply would do what came naturally. As Detroit natives, cars and music play heavily into how they view the world and Gotryke would serve an outlet for this creative expression.
Three years later, and over three hundred original posts deep, Gotryke has taken on a journey of its own. Its a virtual nook that a discerning audience seeks out for cool bits of information about cars, design, and society. In fact, Gotryke became something so revered that some individuals sought out to destroy it with malicious codes, and for two tenuous July 2010 weeks, the Gotryke concept seemed fragile.
But that act was the impetus for the new Gotryke, where ideas are more accessible, where the content broadens and incorporates more of what Gotryke contributors know best: How art, style and getting around intersect. With an all new look, the insightful ideas are easier to find and share. Here is the coveted work of real writers, artists and original thinkers, just clicks away.
While you’ll see a new side of GoTryke, the core of what drove Chuck and Tamara to create this abstract website is intact: Gotryke is movement for a time where the journey is being constantly reinvented and where social responsibility and fun don’t have to be at odds. Gotryke is about the relationship between design, cars, fashion, art, cycles, travel, music, and pop culture reflected in these movements. GoTryke is a dissection of the road that stretches from rural America, to busy bustling cities, to thoroughfares around the world. It’s about paying attention, and sometimes breaking the rules. GoTryke is where we’ve been. GoTryke is where are we are now. GoTryke is where we are going.
